Name: The Blue Party at ExtraSpecialTeas
Date: April 7, 2018
Event Description:
The Blue Party celebrates Autism Awareness and ExtraSpecialTeas' 2nd Birthday! The fun will run from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 7 at ExtraSpecialTeas at 2 Elm Street, Great Barrington, MA. Because the birthday celebrates Autism Awareness, the theme is blue. All community members and visitors are invited to wear blue, post party pictures to their social media (tag @extraspecialteas and hashtag #autismawareness), and come into the teahouse to sample an “ExtraSpecial” brew of blue tea, and try gluten-free baked goods and candies made by ExtraSpecial Servers and staff. Face painting from 11 am – 3 pm. Berkshire Bateria will play their energizing rhythmic grooves on Elm Street at 1:00 pm. Tea partner Tiesta Tea ( from Chicago will be on hand.

It’s easy to find statistics about adults living on the autism spectrum: 1 in 3 adults with autism are socially isolated; only 14 percent of adults with autism hold paid jobs in their communities. What’s more of a challenge is to create meaningful work for these adults who have so much to offer and ability to contribute. ExtraSpecialTeas employs adults with autism and other special needs, such as Down syndrome, as ExtraSpecial Servers. Join us and bring a friend on Satuday, April 7!

The future belongs to everyone belonging!
